Day 12 - 6th June

Melverley - Lydbury North (31 miles)
I got up late and wandered round the tiny 15th Century church at Melverley made of timber, wattle and daub (see photo). It was wonderfully peaceful. In fact the whole of Melverley felt sleepy so I was surprised to see the sign announcing that Melverley has been awarded 'most motivated village of the year'. I can't imagine what that means or what they did to get it!
I took a leisurely (thanks to yesterday) ride through to Bishops Castle and Lydbury North stopping on the way for a wonderful break at 'The Sun Inn' in Marton. This family run restaurant gave me a lovely welcome and very kindly sponsored me. The food was Fantastic and the ale was a fine complement. And to top it all off they allowed me to use their computer to keep my blog up to date. You guys made my day. Thank you!
Bishops Castle is a pleasantly sleepy town like so many in this area and the riding is undulating but quite enjoyable amid this picturesque and peaceful landscape.

In the early 1990s the village of Melverley was voted Britain's most motivated village for the restoration of the remarkable timber-framed Church of St Peter. Futhermore, when you have a little spare time, search Melverley and motivated and you will find that motivation permeates through the village.
Anyway; back to the pedalling you seem to be keeping up a cracking pace. Before you know it you'll be in zider country - beware. Keep your dap bag with you at all times.

enjoying sunny Poole and thinking of you on your travels. Have been doing a little pedalling here and quite a lot of wine drinking!
Or should that be a little wine and a lot of pedal drinking - oh dear better have another drink!
Dad will progress the b and b thing tomorrow. So leave it up to him, he's bound to book 'the grand' but don't worry - he's paying. Just make sure there's room in your sleeping bag.
Well done you we are all so very proud. Keep going!
